N405 Crane / Lift Supervisor Novice

Course Objectives:

At the end of this course, delegates will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:

• Understand the industry, the dangers of working in the industry, and their responsibilities as a crane / lift supervisor.
• Explain the importance of locating & identifying different types of lifting equipment & lifting accessories, including their construction, uses, applications & functions.
• Demonstrate how to interpret & extract information on all relevant documentation.
• Explain & demonstrate diverse types of communication methods used for lifting purposes.
• Understand procedures for placing non-serviceable items out-of-service.
• Understand the function & use of RCIs & anti-collision systems and use the information provided.
• Understand setting up, erection, levelling & dismantling requirements for various lifting equipment & lifts.
• Set up exclusion zones, explain actions required for emergency actions & identify overhead hazards.
• Identify potential hazards & unsafe lifting practices using different lifting scenarios.
• Ensure the security of various types of loads & lifting accessories, ensuring load balance & integrity.
• Supervise the movement of loads using different methods of communication.
• Explain all environmental considerations and how external factors affect the planning of the lifting operation.
• Carry out all ‘out of service’ & securing procedures.

Course Duration: 3 Days

Delegate Numbers: Max of 6 per course

Certification:

Upon successful completion, delegates will receive an NPORS card valid for 5 years. After that, a refresher course can be undertaken.
