Course Description

This online course covers major issues relating to biohazards in the workplace.

The course begins with an overview of how to identify, manage, control, and prevent workplace biohazards. You will learn a simple, effective method of conducting a risk assessment to meet biohazard contamination prevention objectives.

We’ll show you how to identify biological hazards and develop a Control Plan. You'll also cover a range of workplace biohazards, each with a definition, details of symptoms, and treatments.

The biohazards covered include:

• Bloodborne diseases, influenza, tuberculosis, the health hazards associated with asbestos and the dangers of needle stick and sharps injuries.
• Lead paint, and how to identify, remove, and dispose of it safely.
• Flood clean-up and avoiding dangers such as aeroallergenic mould.
• Biohazards caused by insects, Toxoplasmosis, and those associated with wildlife and animal attacks, including rabies and venomous snakes.
